The political rhetoric used by the left wing has taken a new approach. Both in the UK and the USA, parties have been making the case for increasing taxes on the rich because ‘monster’ billionaires and ‘crony capitalists’ are responsible for wealth inequality. It is personally an assumption I have never understood.

‘Too big to fail’ is the mantra often used by diehard EU supporters and federalists alike. However, with Anti-EU geopolitical tensions running rampant in the last decade, we are only now beginning to see the serious chinks in the armour of the EU.
We have all seen the environmental speech delivered to the UN by Greta Thunberg. The 16 year old, Swedish environmental activist delivered a heartfelt and passionate speech about governmental powers choosing to prioritise ‘eternal economic growth’ over protecting the earth.
Minority groups have struggled for a long time in the fight for equality of opportunity. Whether it was a member of the LGBTQ community fighting for societal acceptance or racial minorities trying to eliminate race-based discrimination for example, there were significant obstacles to overcome in our western civilisation.
‘If we don’t lower emissions in the next 18 months, we will suffer irreparable damage’. It is this message we see, constantly. A new wave of panic has ensued as a new narrative ripples throughout the globe. It is one that is insistent on reminding us all that everyone is going to die.
Free speech and freedom of expression has been fought over for millenia. Breaking free from the shackles of an authoritarian regime and establishing freedoms and civil liberties on human interaction is what much of the western world desire. However, there seems to have been a regression in this aspect.
With the primaries in full swing, it is very evident that the gloves are off! For some of the more fringe members of the Democratic Party, it is an opportunity to get their jabs in on some of the front runners. I think we all expected the fists to come out swinging but unfortunately, for those watching, it was rather uneventful.
